The whole entire Golden Bear family would like to wish our co-founder Christine Nicholls a great big Happy Birthday!
When founding the company in 1979 Christine Nicholls and John Hales were eager to put their experience into a company of their own which rapidly became a leading manufacturer of soft toys.
The company’s first licensed range, The Snowman, achieved enormous success and their list of achievements grew with Edd the Duck, Noddy, Bananas in Pyjamas, and of course, the Teletubbies!
In 2010 Golden Bear won the ultimate accolade- the license to make the Olympic Mascots for the London 2012 Olympics.
In 2019, Golden Bear celebrated it’s 40th Anniversary and launched the wonderful preschool character, Bing!
Christine, along side with John Hales, has created a thriving business that continues to develop innovative and creative toys for lots of popular children’s TV shows.
We celebrated Christine’s birthday in typical Golden Bear ‘One Family’ style with friends new and old joining us in eating delicious food, and a sing song around the birthday cake.
‘A very BIG thank you to Emma, Becs and Emily for their superb secret organisational skills… the photos, venue, food and drinks etc. were fabulous and lovely to see some GB friends from the past. Thank you also to Charlotte for the amazing cake with the fab golden teddy on the top!!’ – Christine
